Now, with Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, last we heard, the developers behind the game said that they would not be introducing loot boxes to the game, and now in a post on Activision’s website, it has been revealed that they will instead be opting for a battle pass system.
According to the post, “The new Battle Pass system will allow players to see the content that they are earning or buying. Battle Passes will launch timed to new, post-launch live seasons, so you can unlock cool new Modern Warfare-themed content that matches each season.” Basically, unlike loot boxes where it is up to luck, you know what you’ll be getting before you buy it.
This allows players to choose if they want to buy something or not. Previously, the developers of Rocket League had also announced a similar system, where items dropped at the end of matches were still randomized, but it would be shown to players so they can choose if they want to spend their money on it.
