However, there is some good news for those who miss Touch ID. A report from Bloomberg has suggested that come 2020, the iPhones could come with an in-display Touch ID sensor in addition to Face ID. However, Bloomberg also notes that there is a chance that the feature could slip to 2021, depending on whether or not it can be produced on a mass scale in time.
If you recall, this is not the first time that we have heard that an in-display Touch ID could be in the works. We had heard in May that the 2020 iPhones could be getting Touch ID. However, later analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that the tech could be released in 2021 instead. This report seems to be in between both, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
In the meantime, many other companies that make Android handsets have released smartphones that feature in-display Touch IDs, so Apple will definitely not be the first to the market.
