In an announcement by the company, it seems like Tile is looking to eventually introduce support for Google Assistant. What this means is that with your voice, you’ll be able to ask a Google Assistant-enabled device, like a smart speaker, where your Tile is. It will also support Tile’s “direct ring” technology, where it will let Google Assistant connect directly to the Tile tracker and ring it, making it easier to locate.
According to CJ Prober, CEO of Tile, “This is big news for Tile customers. If you were to lose or misplace your wallet, remote, backpack – anything, Google will soon join your personal search party with a simple voice command.” The feature won’t be available just yet as they only plan to launch it later in the year.
In the meantime, there have been reports that Apple is expected to launch a Tile-like tracker of their own. One of the advantages that this rumored tracker will have is the use of ultra-wideband transmissions, in which it will make locating items more accurate.
