Airline Company Creates Handy Seat Map To Help Passengers Avoid Screaming Babies

Unless you have the cash to splash on business or first class seats, there’s a very good chance that when you fly, you’ll be in economy. This is where the majority of passengers are and where more often than not, you’ll find parents with babies or toddlers who are screaming their heads off.

This can’t be helped, but for some, this can be annoying especially if they’re trying to sleep. Thankfully, Japan Airlines (JAL) might have a handy solution that we hope that other airlines will adopt in the future. The company has created a seat map in which it will highlight seats which will have children, so if you want to avoid sitting near them as much as possible, you can pick a seat that’s further away.

According to JAL’s website, “Passengers traveling with children between 8 days and 2 years old who select their seats on the JAL website will have a child icon displayed on their seats on the seat selection screen. This lets other passengers know a child may be sitting there.” That being said, there’s no guarantee that bookings made after yours will be child-free either, but at the very least this gives passengers a chance to distance themselves as much as possible.

Sure, sound will still travel, but we imagine that it will probably be more bearable if you’re seated ten seats away versus being right in front or behind them.
