Garmin unveiled Venu, its GPS smartwatch featuring an AMOLED screen that delivers up to 5 days of battery life. Since AMOLED technology uses less energy when the display background is black, it made sense for the smartwatch maker to create such a product.
Equipped with a 1.2” display and powered by the Garmin OS, the Venu is packed with health and wellness features. According to the manufacturer, the new AMOLED smartwatch “boasts the broadest range of 24/7 health monitoring features available in the market”.
The Venue watch features advanced sleep with Pulse Ox, new respiration tracking, abnormal heart rate alerts, menstrual cycle tracking, stress tracking with relax reminders, new hydration tracking, new breathwork activities and more.
Garmin Body Battery allows users to monitor energy levels in real-time, to optimize workouts and rest schedule.
In the wearable industry, Garmin is known for its focus on accurately tracking sport and fitness activities, usually with smartwatches dedicated to a single sport such as running or golf. The Venue is a multi-sport Venue and delivers 40+ on-device animated workouts for strength training, cardio, yoga, and Pilates.
The goal is to show the user the proper form for each exercise. You can either use the preloaded workouts, download workouts from Garmin Connect on your watch, or create your own workouts.
The device supports Garmin Coach, a training program for runners that features a virtual personal trainer to help with motivation. Equipped with a GPS and a heart rate monitor, the Venue is packed with over 20 fitness and sports applications that take advantage of these sensors.
On the relaxation side, Garmin offers new breathwork exercises. On the sleep side, the Venue features advanced sleep with light, deep and REM stages of sleep estimation.
When it comes to communication and social interactions, the Venue delivers smart notifications for incoming calls, SMS, social media updates, calendars reminders and more.
The Venue is compatible with Android and Apple mobile devices and will be available in September 2019 for $399.99 (MRP).
