At IFA 2019, Garmin unveiled new smartwatches like the Garmin Venu GPS smartwatch. However, if you wanted something a little more superhero-y, you’re in luck because in addition to the smartwatches announced at IFA, Garmin has also taken the wraps off the Legacy Hero series of smartwatches.
These are smartwatches that have been designed and themed around some of Marvel’s superheroes like Captain Marvel and Captain America. This is not the first time Garmin has launched a Marvel-themed smartwatch, but this is the first time that the company will be launching a Marvel smartwatch for adults.
According to Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of global consumer sales, “When we launched the Marvel-themed vívofit jr.’s, we realized that the parents buying them were almost as excited about the product as their kids. Identifying with heroes and aspiring for greatness is something for all ages, and the Legacy Hero Series delivers on that in a subtle, elegant way.”
In terms of specs, both watches are identical in hardware. The only difference would be their design. Both watches will offer features like 24/7 health monitoring like sleep tracking with pulse ox, new respiration tracking, the Body Battery energy monitoring feature, stress tracking, and menstrual tracking, just to name a few.
The watches will also support on-screen workouts which will show you animations on the type of workouts you want to perform, giving you a visual guide. There will also be smart notifications, support for music playback, safety and tracking features, and laos support for Garmin Pay. Both the Captain Marvel Special Edition Smartwatch and First Avenger Special Edition Smartwatch will be available this October and will be priced at $400.
