This is because according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, the helmets come with a fabric insert that may contain mold, which is bad for health especially if you breathe it in. This is because when mold is breathed in, it could result in respiratory illness, especially amongst those who have compromised immune systems, allergies, or those with damaged lungs.
Not all the helmets are being recalled though, and according to the recall, it affects about 20,000 units that were sold by GameStop. The retailer is said to be contact all customers and asking them to return the helmets. So far, there doesn’t seem to be anyone who has gotten sick as a result of these helmets, but better safe than sorry.
It doesn’t seem like there are plans to issue a new unit to customers. Instead, affected customers will be given a refund, which makes sense since the production of the Power Armor Edition was a limited one.
