But wait, isn’t iOS 13 out already? Yup, iOS 13 has already been released to the masses, but for devices that are unable to be updated to the latest version due to it being incompatible, Apple has not forgotten about you. While iOS 12.4.2 will not bring about the changes and improvements found in iOS 13, it is most likely to squash some bugs and also probably introduce improved security.
The devices that are eligible for the iOS 12.4.2 update include the iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and the iPhone 6 Plus. So if you have any of those devices, it’s probably a good idea to update to the latest version anyway just to be safe and keep your device updated with security features and bug fixes.
We’re not sure if this will become a common practice for Apple in the future, but it does seem like a rather promising start.
