Celebrity voice packs aren’t exactly new and we have seen several such examples in the past. However, for the most part, these voice packs are pretty static as they are based on pre-recorded lines. This means that they can only say what they have recorded, but Amazon is hoping to change that.
During the company’s hardware event today, the company revealed that the neural text-to-speech technology which is used by Alexa will soon be able to mimic the voices of celebrities. In fact, to start things off, they will be featuring Samuel L. Jackson who will be able to be used to replace Alexa’s voice.
This means that if you enjoy the sound of Jackson’s voice, he will be able to tell you jokes, tell you about the weather, set timers and reminders, and so on. Jackson’s voice will be available later this year where it will be priced at $0.99, and according to Amazon, this is a special price so you’ll need to get in on it quickly.
Amazon also states that there are plans to eventually add more celebrity voices to the mix, so it could be worth keeping an eye out for in case your favorite celebrity pops up on it.
