If you’re looking to get yourself a new Surface computer, then you might want to hold off for a month or so. This is because Microsoft has recently confirmed that they will be hosting an event on the 2nd of October where the company is expected to unveil their new Surface series of computers.
Now, the Surface series of computers comes in the form of a more traditional laptop and also a tablet hybrid with a detachable keyboard, but what many seem to be excited for is a device codenamed “Centaurus”. This is said to be a dual-screen Surface device that Microsoft has been developing for the past two years, which some are hoping will be officially revealed at the upcoming event.
This device was apparently shown off at an internal event which could usher in a new era of tablet hybrid devices. We’re not sure how exactly this will work so we’ll have to wait and see, although we had previously heard that one of its selling points is that it could support Android apps which could expand on the device’s overall functionality.
Sources speaking to The Verge also reveal that the device will not be released this year, and that Microsoft is apparently targeting a 2020 release instead.
