This is expected to come into effect this December where it will cover products including the iPhone, iPad, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iPod touch, Apple TV, Apple Pro Display XDR, Apple accessories like the keyboard and wired headphones. In addition to the 15%, the Trump administration has tacked on another 5% to the previously announced 25% tariffs that would affect other Apple product categories.
This means that Apple importing desktop Mac computers, the Apple Watch, AirPods, all wireless Beats headphones, and the HomePod will be subject to a 30% tariff that will come into effect on the 1st of September. If you’re wondering what this means for customers, for now, Apple is expected to absorb the costs.
However, at 15% and 30%, that’s a lot more than what Apple would have absorbed, which could potentially change their plans. Either way we’ll have to wait and see if there will be any changes to price for Apple’s new products.
