According to Kuo’s report, he claims that Apple could very well bring back Touch ID to the iPhone in the 2021 models. However, Touch ID will not be used to replace Face ID, and that both security systems are expected to exist side-by-side, giving users the choice of using their face or the fingerprints to unlock their phones.
The Touch ID system will also be a new one, where it will finally see Apple bring an under-screen fingerprint sensor to the iPhone. So far, other companies have already managed to do that, so it will be interesting to see how Apple will be able to differentiate their solution from the competition.
As we said, this is not the first time we’re hearing that Touch ID could be making a return, where some had actually predicted that it could return in 2020. Take it with a grain of salt, but Kuo has had an excellent track record when it comes to Apple rumors, so there is a good chance he could be onto something.
