Gamers weren’t too thrilled with the requirements, which Bethesda later announced that they would be removing it eventually. The good news is that if you weren’t a fan of the login requirements, Bethesda has announced that in the latest update to the games, they have since removed the login requirement.
According to Bethesda, “We’ve deployed a patch for the re-releases of DOOM and DOOM II, which now adds an option to skip the Bethesda net login requirement and removes the disconnect notification during gameplay.” The company also adds, “We are working on a more permanent fix to further reduce the visibility of the optional login. We do not have an estimated release just yet, but we’ll let you know as soon as we can. Thank you for your feedback!”
We’re not sure why the login requirement was even implemented in the first place, but either way if you weren’t a fan of it, it looks like the feature has since been removed.
