Amazon To Fine Sellers For Shipping Products In Oversized Packaging

Amazon is no stranger to cutting costs in order to increase its profits. Shipping is one of the biggest operational costs for the company and even a slight change for the better could result in a massive amount of money being saved. Amazon has now said that it’s going to fine sellers that ship products in oversized packaging.

We’ve all been left wondering why the tiny product that we ordered from Amazon was shipped in a box too big to make any sense at some point in our lives. It’s just a complete waste of packaging and Amazon is now taking action against it.

Amazon has introduced new guidelines for packaging to ensure that the items remain safe without requiring unnecessary packaging which goes to waste. It aims to cut down on shipping costs with these new guidelines while also reducing the environmental impact of waste packaging.

Amazon sellers will be required to stick to these guidelines. If they don’t, they could be looking at a fine which would be in the form of a $1.99 surcharge that they would have to pay. Amazon is also going to incentive adhering to the guidelines by offering a $1 credit to sellers for every item that’s within the guidelines of its Frustration-Free Packaging Program.
