A couple of weeks after new photos from Netflix’s The Witcher series had emerged, the online video streaming giant has now released the first trailer for this highly anticipated show. The trailer was revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con. Fans were treated to the first proper bit of footage from the title.
Fans appeared to have liked the trailer so far. It has racked up millions of views in just a few days with more likes and dislikes. This suggests that the overall reception for the trailer has been positive.
Showrunner Lauren Hissrich told Entertainment Weekly that this adaptation will be completely based on the books. It was clarified that this isn’t going to be an adaptation of the game. “We’re not adapting the videogames, it’s a straight adaptation of the books. Which is great as the videogames are also an adaptation of the books,” Hissrich said, adding that while the game went in one direction, the series is going to go in another. No further details have been revealed as yet about the plot of the first season.
Henry Cavill has taken on the role of Geralt of Rivia, the lead in this fantasy saga. While a release date has not yet been confirmed, Netflix previously said that The Witcher series will be released in the final quarter of this year.
