Comcast has been working on its NBCUniversal standalone streaming service for a while now and we finally have an idea of when it might go live. NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke has revealed during the company’s earnings call that the service is slated to be launched in April next year.

It had previously been confirmed that the streaming service wouldn’t go live before 2020 but now we have an exact month when the service will go live, barring any unforeseen circumstances which compel the company to delay the launch.

Comcast hasn’t talked much about the type of content that will be on offer through this service but it has already been confirmed that it would become the online streaming home for NBC’s superhit series, The Office. The show can currently be found on Netflix but will be taken off the service once NBCUniversal launches its own streaming platform.

Comcast has also said that majority of the content which will be available on the platform initially is going to be acquired from outside the company. There may also be content from Sky Studios which Comcast ended up taking control of when it acquired Sky last year. More specific information about the types of content available will be provided closer to launch.
