The company has recently taken the wraps off its all-electric hypercar, the Lotus Evija, in which they are boasting that it will only take about 9 minutes for it to fully recharge. This means that even though it still takes longer than filling your car with gas, it is much faster than what is being offered today.
However, there is a catch and that is it will require the use of an 800kW charger. The bad news is that in the real-world, the industry’s most powerful charger is 350kW, meaning that it will take about 18 minutes to charge up to 100%. Other features of the car include its ability to go 0-62mph in under 3 seconds.
That being said, the Lotus Evija is not planned as a mass production model. There will only be 130 models made and each car is expected to cost an jaw-dropping £1.7 million. Production on the car is expected to begin in 2020.
