An FCC listing spotted today suggests that it might be for the Google Pixelbook successor. It has quite a lot of similarities with other listings seen previously for a Google Chromebook. This suggests that Google may be launching a Pixelbook 2 at some point later this year, as many have been expecting already.
Google’s hardware event isn’t due to take place until October this year and it’s unlikely that if there is a new Pixelbook in the pipeline, it will be revealed before then. That event will primarily be for the new Pixel smartphones but we may also get the Pixelbook successor there.
The successor to the 2017 Pixelbook has been developed under the “Atlas” codename and this has been spotted time and again over the past year. Quanta Computer, a company previously contracted by Google for manufacturing its Chromebooks, has submitted this application for a new FCC ID. It submitted such requests for the previous two Chromebooks as well instead of Google doing that directly.
No further information is available about the Pixelbook 2 at this point in time. However, we should begin to hear more about it in the coming weeks. The leaks are likely to pick up as we approach Google’s hardware event that’s due this October.
