According to a report from Fuji Rumors, they have stumbled across a patent which suggests that Fujifilm has been toying with the idea of making the LCD panel touch sensitive. Now the screen itself is pretty small, so it’s not as if it will be used in the same way you might expect from a touch LCD panel mounted on the back of the camera.
Instead, it seems to have been designed to help prevent erroneous operations when using the command dial. According to the patent, it suggests that when the user touches the LCD panel, it activates the command dial where users will be able to make changes to shutter speed, exposure, and the likes, but the moment the user’s finger stops touching the LCD, then the command dial stops working.
It is quite an intriguing concept, although it sounds like it could potentially be more trouble than its worth since we have no idea how it might work out in real life. That being said, this is only a patent which means that there is no guarantee that what we see will be made a reality.
