Facebook And Twitter May Not Be Present At White House Social Media Summit

A social media summit without two of the biggest players in social media might not make much sense but apparently, that’s going to be the case for the upcoming summit at the White House. According to reports, the White House has not invited the two most popular social media companies to attend the event.

CNN reports that Facebook and Twitter have not been invited to attend the White House social media summit. The scribe adds that this summit is not going to be an attempt to discuss pressing issues such as privacy and security, rather it “would amount to a right-wing grievance session.”

The White House had announced this summit last month. It said that the event was meant to bring together digital leaders so that there can be a robust discussion on the opportunities and challenges presented by the online environment today.

A spokesperson for the White House declined to comment when reached out to by the scribe. It’s pertinent to mention here that it hasn’t been disclosed as yet who has been invited to the summit. There has been no comment on the matter as yet from both Facebook and Twitter as well. It remains to be seen if an invitation will be extended to the two companies eventually.
