You Can Now View Stocks In Real-Time In Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel is an excellent tool for creating spreadsheets where you can use it to track your budget, keep a contacts list, and so on. However, it seems that Microsoft is hoping to make Excel more than just a productivity tool because the company has teamed up with Nasdaq and Refinitiv to bring real-time stocks data to Excel.

According to Microsoft, “Stocks in Excel now expands financial data to include bitcoin, bonds, international currencies, extended-hours pricing information and information about the company, like industry and company description, in addition to other previously available data like mutual funds and stock indexes, such as the Nasdaq Composite, Dow Jones Industrial Average, the S&P 500, and more.”

What this means is that users will be able to insert real-time data into their spreadsheets, so if you’re using Excel to keep track of your investment portfolio, you’ll be able to pull real-time data that will make your tracking more accurate. Microsoft notes that users will be able to quickly retrieve data by typing in the stock name and click Stocks.

For example, typing in MSFT would allow the feature to recognize it as a stock and will give users the option to link related information to it, such as price, change, and so on. The new feature should already be live so if you use Excel and make investments, then this could be a feature worth checking out.
