Verizon will soon begin selling another 5G smartphone on its network. It was the first carrier in the United States to offer the 5G Galaxy S10. It actually had exclusivity on this variant for about a month. Verizon today confirmed that it will begin selling the LG V50 ThinQ 5G from June 20th.
While the 5G Galaxy S10 was Verizon’s first smartphone that was compatible with its next-generation network, the LG V50 ThinQ arrived to the United States as Sprint’s first 5G smartphone. It was also confirmed previously for both smartphones that they would eventually be available from other carriers as well.
The device offers flagship-level specifications with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 mobile platform, 6GB RAM, a 6.4 inch OLED display, a 4,000mAh battery and a triple camera system at the back in addition to dual front facing cameras.
Do keep in mind, though, that Verizon’s 5G network is the farthest thing from being available nationwide at this point in time. Customers in Chicago and Minneapolis have access to the network currently so only they will be able to check out 5G’s potential on the V50 ThinQ 5G. The device is going to cost $41.66 per month for 24 months on Verizon’s Device Payment plan.
The device will continue to use a 4G LTE network when 5G isn’t available so there’s no harm in getting one even if you’re in one of the 28+ cities that Verizon says it will expand its 5G network to this year.
