In fact, Tesla seems to be ready to challenge the likes of sports cars with its upcoming pickup truck. During an episode of the Ride the Lightning podcast, Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk boasted how the company’s pickup truck will be able to outperform the likes of the Porsche 911 and how it would also be better than the Ford F-150, which is arguably one of the most popular pickup trucks in the US at the moment.
However, despite these claims, some have noted that Tesla’s pickup truck will have a disadvantage with its price, where it has been speculated that it would most likely cost more than the average pickup truck. Musk has also cautioned that its design might be too sci-fi and that it will probably not be for everyone.
According to Musk, “It won’t look like a normal truck. It’s going to look pretty sci-fi, it’s not going to be for everyone. If somebody just wants a truck that looks like trucks have looked for the last 20 years, 30 years, or 40 years, this probably isn’t for them.” The company’s pickup truck is expected to be unveiled later this year and it will not be the company’s first non-car electric vehicle. The company had previously launched the Tesla Semi truck back in 2017.
