In the email that was sent out to the owners of the Standard Range, it reads, “Your Model 3 will soon receive new software that matches the Model 3 Standard Range configuration you ordered. As we communicated in April, this includes a limited range of 220 miles, and the removal of several software features. To continue experiencing the extended range, faster acceleration and Autopilot features of Model Standard Range Plus, schedule a service appointment through your Tesla app.”
The new range will be about 10% shorter compared to the more expensive Standard Range Plus version of the Model 3. It is also possible that the other features that will be removed include the onboard music streaming service, which is kind of a pity. However, as we said, customers can opt to pay to upgrade these features as they are mostly software-based anyway.
