The company had initially stated that they would be launching the Galaxy Home in the first half of 2019, but now in a report from The Korea Herald, Samsung Electronics’ CEO Kim Hyun Suk stated that the speaker will now be launched in Q3 2019 instead. This represents a slight delay from the previous timeframe that we were given, and there is no specific date mentioned which means that it could be as late as September before the speaker arrives.
In a statement made to the publication, Kim was quoted as saying, “The Galaxy Home speaker, which will be the center of Samsung’s home appliances, is planned to be launched in mid-second half of the year.” It is unclear as to why Samsung is taking so long to launch the speaker, but as we said, the longer the company takes, the more market share will be ceded to the likes of Amazon and Google.
It also remains to be seen how well the Galaxy Home will fare, especially since Bixby isn’t exactly the most popular of digital assistants out there today.
