Samsung Could Be The First To The Market With A ‘True’ 5G Chipset

At the moment, Qualcomm is pretty much the only company that has chipsets available in the market that are compatible with 5G. This comes in the form of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 which can be found in the majority of flagship smartphones, although it should be noted that not all Snapdragon 855 chipsets have 5G.

This is because its 5G modem, the X50, is still separate from the chipset which means that there are some handsets that use the Snapdragon 855 that will not have 5G. That being said, it seems that Samsung could actually be working on integrating all of that together, or at least that’s according to reports out of Korea which claims that Samsung is speeding up on the development of its first 5G system chip.

What this means is that in the future, it will be possible that we can see Exynos chipsets that come with a 5G modem integrated into them. When will we see them? If the reports are true, probably by the end of the year, although it remains to be seen if these rumored Exynos chipsets with 5G in them will debut with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 10.

It has also been suggested that Qualcomm and MediaTek could also be working on similar solutions, but it is said that Samsung could actually beat them to the launch.
