However, there is some good news because according to a report from Nikkei, it seems that Nikon could actually have a new mirrorless camera in the works. This model is said to be a mid-range model that could cost $900, making it more affordable than what the company has to offer at the moment.
It is unclear if this price is for the body-only, but if we had to venture a guess, we’d say so. Either way, a starting price of $900 does make it more accessible to hobbyists and enthusiasts who might not have a need for a high-end camera. It would also allow Nikon to try and steal more market share from the likes of Sony and also Fujifilm, both of whom have quite a few mid-rangers around that price as well.
Take it with a grain of salt for now, but Nikkei claims that the camera is expected to be launched in the 2019 fiscal year, which means that we should be able to expect an announcement in the coming months. In the meantime, there have also been rumors to suggest that we can expect a new high-end model.
