In fact, over in Indonesia, the National Development University Veteran Jakarta has announced that they will now be offering up spots in its admission program to YouTubers who have more than 10,000 subscribers or who have created original video content for YouTube that has garnered at least 100,000 views, if not more.
This does not mean that these YouTubers will be guaranteed entry to the university, but they will be given a chance. They will also need to be tested further by creating a new video between 3-5 mins in length. This is not the first time we’ve seen universities consider applicants through what might be deemed unconventional means.
For example, there have been reports of some universities offering up scholarships to students who are good at certain games. If anything, this reflects the change in today’s society where it could be an argument for taking the path less traveled.
