Earlier this year, IKEA launched their smart shades in Europe. The launch of these shades were planned for a launch in February but was later delayed, but it seems that we now have an idea of when they are expected to be available. According to IKEA’s Swedish website, the company is now claiming that the shades will begin shipping in August.
Spotted by Reddit user u/jphorn, the website reads, “We appreciate your interest in our smart blinds KADRILJ and FYRTUR. These blinds were intended to be sold in February, but will now be available in August , according to our forecasts.” By using the term “forecasts”, it suggests that it could potentially be delayed further or it might even launch earlier, but we suppose until IKEA says otherwise, August could be a rough timeline to look forward to.
For those who are unfamiliar, IKEA’s smart shades are exactly what you think they sound like. They are designed for people who want to make their homes smarter, and the best part is that these shades are HomeKit compatible. This means that you’ll be able to use them with the Home app on your iOS device, and you will also be able to use them together with other HomeKit products.
At the moment, there aren’t that many HomeKit compatible shades in the market, so with IKEA’s smart shades launching soon, it will give customers more choices.
