Huawei Mate X Delayed To September For Extra Testing

2019 was supposed to be the year of the foldable phone, but it is already halfway through the year and we still do not have any idea of how these phones are supposed to change our lives, or at least the way we use our smartphones. This is because not only has the Samsung Galaxy Fold’s launch been delayed, but so has the Huawei Mate X.

This is according to a report from CNBC in which a Huawei spokesperson has told the publication that they have pushed the launch of its foldable smartphone from June to September. It seems that the company has learnt from Samsung’s mistakes with the Galaxy Fold and are also taking steps to ensure that the same thing will not happen to them as well.

According to the Huawei spokesperson, “We don’t want to launch a product to destroy our reputation.” At this point in time, it is unclear as to what kind of potential problems the Huawei Mate X could face, but we suppose it’s better to be safe than sorry. The Huawei Mate X is also priced much higher than the Galaxy Fold, plus with Huawei’s ongoing trouble with the US government which has no doubt affected the perception of the company, it leaves very little room for any missteps.

In the meantime, both Best Buy and AT&T have cancelled pre-orders for the Galaxy Fold, at least until Samsung has a more solid date for the handset’s launch.
