‘Find My Friends’ App Helped A Mother Locate Her Missing Daughter

Apple’s iOS devices have an app called “Find My Friends”. It feels almost stalkerish as it basically let users keep track of where their friends are at all times. However, it seems that an argument for the app’s existence could be made as according to a recent story, it helped a mother locate her missing daughter, saving her life in the process.

17-year old Macy Smith was late coming home and when her mom attempted to call her, there was no answer on her phone. Her mom, feeling something was wrong, decided to fire up the Find My Friends app and located her daughter. It was a good thing she did not wait longer because Smith had actually gotten into an accident and was trapped in her car at the bottom of an embankment.

In a post shared on Facebook, Smith wrote, “I hydroplaned at 4:00 pm and ran in between 2 trees down an embankment, flipped my car 3 times, and landed in my back seat with my arm pinned in between the car and the ground.” While she couldn’t reach her phone to call for help, Smith told TV station WXII that she knew her family was looking for her.

“The whole time I knew they were going to show up and I’m so thankful for my family and we’re such a tight family that I knew that I wasn’t going to be there the whole night without them looking for me.”
