Faster Delivery Might Be Making It Worse For Our Environment

Fast delivery is all the rage these days, with companies such as Amazon offering deliveries that can be made in the next day or two. This is great because one of the downsides to shopping online is the wait time involved, where in the past customers would wait a week or maybe even two before their products arrived.

However, it seems that speedy deliveries could be causing a different problem. According to a recent study, it has been found that by offering up faster delivery options, it could actually be doing a disservice to the environment. The study has found that the amount of CO2 emissions have been up, and that they think that faster delivery services offered by FedEx, UPS, USPS, Amazon, Walmart, and so on might be to blame.

This is because in the past, why deliveries took so long is because companies would usually accumulate a bunch of orders before sending it out. This was done to cut the costs of shipping, but with customers now willing to pay more for speedier options, it means that shipping is done more frequently, and thus increasing the number of CO2 emissions in the process.

That being said, while the study does have a point, some shipping services are looking to do their bid for the environment as well. Companies such as UPS are looking to convert their diesel-powered trucks into electric ones, which in turn will help reduce CO2 emissions.
