Back in the day, learning coding was a very niche topic to study and there were many who believe that it wasn’t a particularly important topic to learn, unless that was the field that you wanted to get into. These days, it’s a very different story as many companies and institutions are starting to emphasize the importance of coding.
DJI is the latest to toss their hat into the ring with the company taking the wraps off their latest robot, the Robomaster S1. The company, probably best known for creating drones, claims that the S1 has actually been in the works for the past couple of years. The toy has been designed to help make the process of learning how to code and robotics fun.
The S1 looks like a tank and it comes with features such as omni-directional movements, a gimbal, infrared and bead blasters, speakers, a camera, and more. Users will be able to program the robot to do a variety of tasks, and thanks to DJI’s experience in the drone industry, they have managed to bake certain features into the S1, such as being able to identify and follow visual markers.
The S1 will support programming languages such as Scratch 3.0 or Python, and for those who are new to all of this, not to worry as DJI has built in coding courses that will help teach users how to go about making their own code. Unfortunately, the Robomaster S1 will not come cheap at $499, but if you have the cash to spare, it could be a fun gadget to check out.
