Speaking to WSVN, the homeowner said that his wife alerted him to how someone appeared to be breaking into his car, “There is somebody breaking into the car, and I said, ‘What?’ I immediately called 911, and while talking to the police, I came outside. I pointed the phone to him, and I said, ‘Lay down.’ I start screaming, ‘What are you doing there?’ And he tried to come towards me, and I said, ‘Stay there. Don’t come here.’”
It seemed that the ruse worked because in the dark and with his iPhone being black in color, it was enough to fool the burglar into thinking it was an actual weapon. According to the homeowner, “Face down, and I said, ‘Put your hands behind your back.’ He put his hands on his back, and I was talking to the police.”
When the police arrived and arrested the suspect, it turns out that this was not his first time. The police claim that the suspect was wanted by the police under an alias for attempted grand theft auto and resisting arrest without violence charges.
