Apple TV Will Finally Gain Picture-In-Picture Support

A lot of modern TVs these days allow users to do picture-in-picture. For those who are unfamiliar, PIP mode is where you can have two screens in a single display itself, where one portion can be playing videos from one source, and the other plays videos from a different source.

This is useful for instances like when you’re trying to keep score on your favorite sports, but want to watch another show at the same time. However, oddly enough, PIP is not a feature offered by the Apple TV despite it being a feature offered on Apple’s iPad. However, the good news is that is expected to change with the next tvOS update.

With the latest beta release of the upcoming tvOS 13 update, it seems that Apple has finally added support for PIP mode. In a video shared on Twitter by Nikolaj Hansen-Turton, you can see how the feature will work, although for the most part it does act like how you might expect PIP to work.

Oddly enough, Apple did not mention anything about PIP mode during its presentation at WWDC 2019, but it has been speculated that maybe the feature wasn’t quite ready for primetime just yet. In any case, this will be a feature that Apple TV users can look forward to in the coming update.
