iTunes has been around for the longest time ever and has become one of the staple softwares used on Apple’s Mac computers. However, the fact that it has been around for so long has resulted in it feeling rather bloated and hard to use, which is why there have been rumors that Apple could potentially retire the software at WWDC 2019.
For those who are wondering how true these claims are, a post on Reddit by u/MalteseAppleFan has revealed that this could be true. This is based on the changes Apple has made to several of its social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram, namely the official iTunes pages where it seems that all of its content has since been deleted.
Now, there are several ways one could look at this. It could mean that Apple could be retiring iTunes as previously reported, or it could mean that while iTunes will still be around, the changes are big enough to warrant Apple wiping their social media accounts and starting from scratch.
It was previously suggested that Apple could actually be splitting iTunes up into separate standalone apps for music and TV shows, as we have seen in recent screenshots. This means that while iTunes could still be around, it might have a more limited use, which means that users won’t need to keep it open if they want to listen to songs or watch their purchased TV shows and movies.
