As powerful as the iPad Pros are, many have pointed out that it still isn’t quite there yet in terms of it being a potential laptop replacement. This is because of the limitations of iOS, where you can’t quite pull off certain functions like you would on an OS like macOS or Windows, but that has changed when Apple launched iPadOS.
For those who missed our previous coverage, iPadOS is a branch of iOS that turns the iPad into a more productive device. The good news is that it appears that one of those additions is the support of a mouse. This means that when combined with the Smart Keyboard (or any other keyboard), the iPad Pro will finally become the productive powerhouse that many were hoping for.
This was discovered by developer Steve Troughton-Smith when the beta of the software had gone live. We had actually previously heard that Apple could be adding mouse support to the iPad, and we’re glad that the rumor panned out. For now, it seems that mouse support is available as an AssistiveTouch accessibility feature, so it is unclear as to what the full extent of the support is.
However, it has been pointed out that under the Pointing Devices settings, there is an option for Bluetooth devices, hinting that maybe support for Bluetooth mice could be part of it as well, but we’ll have to wait and see.
