Sprint has confirmed the availability details for its first 5G devices today. They will be available from the carrier starting May 31st. Its first 5G devices include the LG V50 ThinQ 5G smartphone and the HTC 5G Hub mobile hotspot. Both devices will initially be available to customers only in the first few markets where the carrier’s next-generation network will go live.
According to Sprint, customers in Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, and Kansas City will be able to purchase the smartphone and hotspot initially. Pre-orders start May 17th. It will then release the devices in its other 5G markets which include Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, Phoenix, and Washington, D.C. in the next few weeks.
It’s pertinent to note here that Sprint’s 5G network isn’t live as yet and the carrier hasn’t confirmed today if it will be live by the time these devices ship on May 31st. It has already missed a May deadline that it had previously set for 5G launch.
The carrier mentions in its press release today that these devices will deliver blazing-fast speeds when the 5G service starts rolling out “in the coming weeks.” Pre-order customers can get the LG V50 ThinQ 5G for $24 per month with $0 down on Sprint Flex and the HTC 5G Hub for $12.50 per month.
