Some Bose Speakers And Soundbars Now Support Google Assistant

Bose launched a smart home speaker and two soundbars last year. They featured Alexa integration out of the box which led to the question whether the company would eventually add support for other digital assistants as well. The question has been offered in the affirmative as these devices have indeed received support for the Google Assistant.

Bose sent out a press release today, confirming that the company is bringing the Google Assistant to its smart speakers and soundbars. The lineup includes the Bose Home Speaker 500 as well as the Bose Soundbar 500 and 700 in addition to the new Bose Home Speaker 300. It’s a compact smart speaker which will be available later this summer.

Google Assistant will work on these devices like you’d expect the digital assistant to work on any compatible device. Give it voice commands to ask about the weather, for example, or just use the voice commands to control music playback or to stream videos to a Chromecast-enabled TV.

Those who own these products need not do anything as they will automatically receive a software update with the Google Assistant. They can then pick whether they want to use Alexa or Google Assistant from the Voice Settings menu in the Bose Music app.
