With Ben Affleck officially stepping down from his role as Batman, many are wondering what will become of the Matt Reeves standalone Batman movie. The good news is that the movie still seems to be on track, and now according to a report from Variety, it looks like we have our new Batman in the form of actor Robert Pattinson.
There is no official announcement yet, but Variety’s sources claim that the deal is expected to close shortly, so we should have some kind of official word soon. Now, some might bemoan the fact that Pattinson will be the new Batman, especially since it would be hard to shake the actor’s image from when he was cast as Edward Cullen, the vampire from the Twilight series of movies.
However, to Pattinson’s credit, the actor has been trying to shed that image by taking on deeper and more grittier roles, and if you have seen any of his more recent movies, you might agree that him playing as Batman could actually work. The standalone Batman movie has been in the works for a few years now and is currently scheduled for a release on the 25th of June, 2021.
This means that we still have a couple of years to go before we get to see it, but it will be interesting to see Pattinson taking up the role, especially with many seemingly disliking Affleck’s portrayal of the character.
