OnePlus unveiled the OnePlus 7 Pro yesterday. It’s the most expensive handset that we have seen from the company so far. It also happens to be the most feature-packed. That’s why it’s more expensive and can really hold a candle to other flagship smartphones. Curious about its durability? The OnePlus 7 Pro has done well in a popular durability test.
YouTube channel JerryRigEverything has perhaps the best durability test online. Every new smartphone gets to run the gauntlet and we end up with a good idea of how the device will survive the use and abuse that we throw at it.
Like many other high-end smartphones, the OnePlus 7 Pro uses Gorilla Glass to protect the display panel. It starts scratching at a level 6 on the Mohs hardness scale with deeper scratches appearing at a level 7. This is standard stuff.
OnePlus has also used glass for the pop-up selfie camera so it doesn’t scratch easily too. The company has even built an automatic fall detection feature which will automatically close the camera mechanism if it senses that the phone has been dropped. It’s pretty neat.
Despite having the largest display on a OnePlus phone, and a 90hz one at that, the device does well on the burn test. There were no dead pixels even after an open flame was directly applied to the display for a minute. All of this just makes the OnePlus 7 Pro an even better proposition for those in the market who are looking for a decent high-end phone that doesn’t cost a thousand dollars.
