OnePlus continues to reveal more details about its upcoming flagship smartphone. The company will actually be releasing two models of the flagship, the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. The latter will have faster UFS 3.0 storage, the company’s CEO Pete Lau has confirmed.
UFS 3.0 is the latest in mobile storage standards and can be found on a handful of flagship devices on the market right now. Samsung’s 5G Galaxy S10 has UFS 3.0 storage while its delayed Galaxy Fold had it as well.
Both handsets were to be released in limited markets so OnePlus might beat them in markets across the globe with a smartphone that touts super-fast UFS 3.0 storage. Lau confirmed on Twitter that the OnePlus 7 Series will include UFS 3.0. This means that it will be present on both the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro.
UFS 3.0 spec storage supports 2x the maximum theoretical bandwidth of the previous standard with figures as high as 2.9 GB/s. It also requires less power while being quicker than UFS 2.1. This will certainly make the handset feel a lot faster for users so this is a good sign for those who are waiting to see what OnePlus has to sell them this year.
OnePlus will be unveiling its new devices at an event on May 14th.
