League Of Legends Could Arrive On Smartphones

League of Legends is an immensely popular MOBA title that’s yet to arrive on mobile devices. That’s said to change in the not too distant future according to a report. Riot, the developer of League of Legends, is reportedly working with its parent company Tencent on a mobile version of its popular game.

Reuter reports that Riot and Tencent have been working on an iOS and Android version of League of Legends for over a year now. However, it may not arrive this year. The report mentions that the mobile version of League of Legends may not be released before 2020.

The report mentions that Tencent had initially suggested a mobile version of League of Legends to Riot several years ago but the developer had turned that proposal down. Tencent later released Honor of Kings, its own mobile MOBA, in 2015. The game did well in China but didn’t get that much traction in the west where it had been launched as Arena of Valor.

A mobile version of the game will certainly help Riot significantly expand the game’s footprint across Asia where people tend to favor mobile gaming more compared to PC or console gaming. League of Legends fans in other markets will simply be able to get their fix while they’re on the move.
