It looks like Facebook’s algorithm is constantly shifting because in a post on Facebook’s website, the company has announced further changes that they will be making to the platform. These changes are expected to result in a more personalized News Feed where you will start seeing posts from those who you are closer with, and this will be done through surveys in which Facebook wants to find out who are some of your closest friends.
According to Facebook, “We look at the patterns that emerge from the results, some of which include being tagged in the same photos, continuously reacting and commenting on the same posts and checking-in at the same places — and then use these patterns to inform our algorithm.”
These changes are in line with what the social networking platform announced previously, in which they wanted to make your News Feed more about connecting you with your friends and family, instead of being spammed by the pages you follow. Facebook adds, “These changes aren’t meant to show more or less from Pages or friends. Rather, the Page links that are surfaced to people will be ones they find worth their time — and the friend posts will be from friends people want to hear from most.”
