If you’re worried that the Star Wars franchise is getting too diluted, then you might have heard how Disney had previously announced that they will be taking a break from Star Wars after the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. How long of a break, you ask? According to a tweet by CNN’s Frank Pallotta, it seems that fans of the franchise will need to wait 3 years before the next Star Wars movie is released.
Pallotta shared a timeline of Disney’s movie release schedule and according to the dates, the next Star Wars movie will only be released in December of 2022. Judging by the release dates, which will be every two years, it seems that this could be the new trilogy of Star Wars movies that Rian Johnson is working on.
It also appears that unlike the previous releases of Star Wars movies, there will not be a release in between the main trilogy. Previously we were treated to movies such as Rogue One and Solo: A Star Wars Story in between the releases of the main movie, but it is possible that Disney could be scaling it back to prevent franchise fatigue.

This means that it will be quite a while before we see our next Star Wars movie, so fans will just need to exercise some patience until then. In the meantime, Rise of Skywalker will be released later this year and will be concluding the current storyline.
