With Focus Mode, users will be able to hit the pause button on apps that they don’t want to be distracted by. This means that if you’re trying to cut out messages or notifications from social media during your working hours or while you’re at school, Focus Mode will let you do that. It will also give users the option to allow the notifications for other apps to come through, so you’ll get to control what you see.
This is part of Google’s Digital Wellbeing initiative where the company is introducing features that will help cut down on unnecessary screen time. This is also an upgrade over the Do-Not-Disturb mode feature which is less customizable. It also seems to be an expansion on the Digital Wellbeing tools that lets users better manage their apps and also how parents manage the screen time of devices that their kids use.

That being said, at the end of the day it’s up to the user to choose to enable this mode or not, but we suppose at least the option is there for those who wish to take advantage of it.
