Skype is introducing a new feature to its mobile apps in beta which many users might find to be quite useful. It has added screen sharing to both the iOS and Android apps. The feature isn’t as significant as some of the other features that Skype has introduced recently, such as background blur in video calls, but it’s quite meaningful nonetheless.
Those who have the latest Insider build will now be able to share their screen on an Android or iOS device during a call. In order to do that, they just need to tap on “…” and select Screen Share to get started.
The use cases that Microsoft has imagined for this feature includes online shopping with your best friends, showing a PowerPoint presentation to your co-workers or sharing your swipes on dating apps.
The company is yet to confirm when the feature will be rolled out for all users. It’s currently available only to Skype Insiders which are basically beta testers for the in-development builds. Such features are normally rolled out in a few weeks once they hit the beta builds so that might very well be the case for screen sharing on Skype for Android and iOS as well.
