Now it looks like Samsung could be back with a newer version of the Chromebook Pro. This is according to a report from ChromeUnboxed who spotted an addition to the Chromium repositories. The device in question is codenamed “Kohaku”, but unfortunately apart from that, not much else is known about the upcoming laptop.
However, it had been speculated that Samsung could be utilizing Intel’s 9th-gen Comet Lake processors for the Chromebook Pro refresh. Given that the processors are only expected to arrive until later this year, it is believed that if and when we do see a refreshed Chromebook Pro, it will most likely be in the later part of the year, or maybe even in 2020 at CES.
Take it with a grain of salt for now, but we have heard that Google could be planning on some new non-smartphone Pixel products, so those could be worth taking a look at as well as an alternative.
