Oppo Reno Flagship Smartphone Announced

Remember last month we shared a video in which it showed an alleged Oppo phone that came with a rather unique-looking popup camera? For those who might have been skeptical about the authenticity of the handset, it seems like it is pretty real as Oppo has since officially announced their new Reno flagship smartphone lineup.

Available in two models: the Reno and the Reno 10x Zoom, the former will sport a 6.4-inch OLED display and will be powered by the Snapdragon 710 chipset, while the latter will feature a larger 6.6-inch display and is powered by the Snapdragon 855 chipset, making it the more powerful of the two.

In addition to the screen size and chipset, as the name suggests, the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom will also sport a camera system that can offer 10x zoom, something that we have to wonder how it might hold up against the likes of Huawei’s own 5x zoom. The phones are also expected to feature a wedge-shaped popup camera that acts as alternative to the notch and hole-punch display. There will also be an in-display fingerprint scanner.

In terms of pricing, the standard Reno model will be priced starting at $450, while the 10x Zoom model will be priced higher starting at $600. No word on when the phone could find its way stateside, Oppo could announce that at a global launch event that will be held in Zurich on the 24th of April.
