OnePlus is due to launch its next flagship smartphone in the not too distant future and the company is now revealing some more information about the OnePlus 7 Pro. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has confirmed that the handset will feature a “breakthrough” display and that it’s going to have support for 5G.
OnePlus is really talking up the display for this year’s flagship model which would suggest that it’s going to put out a device that’s going to be closer to top-tier flagships in terms of display specs. This might mean that the price could be up there as well but the company is still tightlipped on the pricing for this handset.
Lau revealed to The Verge that OnePlus is going to spend three times as much on the display this year compared to earlier models. He didn’t talk about the actual specs of this display panel but rumors suggest that it may have a 90Hz display. Lau did tease that the display will be “super-smoother and very crisp.”
The display panel has been one of the biggest expenses that OnePlus has cut down on in order to keep the aggressive pricing for its handsets. It’s going to ditch that strategy for the OnePlus 7 Pro in order to compete more effectively against the top-tier flagships. It’s also going to get 5G support as a few high-end flagships already offer support for the next-generation mobile network technology.
